Sophomores Lose a Tight One to Shakopee

The opening of each half doomed the Lightning on the road against Shakopee on Tuesday as they fell 62-57.

Down 2 with 30 seconds to play, Eastview missed the front end of a 1-1 that could have tied the game. Then down 60-57 with 20 seconds to go, the Lightning missed three chances to tie the game.

Essam Ibrahim led the way with 14 points. Nick Manders added 10, Jackson Bires 9 and Kyle Hermann 8. Will Barry added 5 points and 12 rebounds.

Eastview is next in action Friday looking for a season sweep of cross-town rival Eagan.
 

Eastview Rallies for Win Over Farmington

Eastview overcame a sluggish start to both halves and overcame a 15 point deficit to defeat Farmington 62-56.

Ben Neubert led all scorers with 14 points, Nick Manders chipped in 12, Essam Ibrahim added 10 and Porter Awad and Will Barry each added 8.

The Lightning were down 15 midway through the first half before going on a furious rally. DeShawn Henry and Idris Ahmed led he way with great defense and a few layups. After tying it at 24-24 Farmington hit a three at the buzzer to take a 27-24 half time lead.

After Farmington built a 42-33 lead, Eastview finished the game on a 29-14 run to take the 62-56 victory. The Lightning improved to 9-4 on the season, 5-3 in conference play.
 

Sophomores Fall to Unbeaten Lakeville North

After getting off to a fast start and jumping out to a 17-8 lead, Lakeville North gained control of the game and won 61-49. Eastview cut it to 5 with 50 seconds to play, but were unable to get any closer.

The Lightning were led by the guard duo of Nick Manders  and Kyle Hermann who scored 14 and 13 points respectively.
