Final Weekend a Busy One for Freshmen

The 9A team had a busy weekend. Friday night the Lightning traveled to Shakopee for the last game of the season and lost 59-45. Jake Mayer lead all scorers with 13 points, also adding 7 rebounds and 1 assist. Nick Manders had 11 points. Sam Brill, Jackson Bires, and Will Barry all had 4 rebounds.

On Saturday, Burnsville Booster Club hosted the South Suburban Freshman Boys Tournament at Burnsville high school. Eastview lost their first game to Eagan 52-33. Essam Ibrahim lead all scorers with 9. Moving to the consolation bracket the Lightning faced Farmington and won 51-41. Down by one at half, the Lightning surged halfway through the second half building a 14 point lead. Scoring for Eastview were: Nick Manders with 14, Jackson Bires 10, Ben Nuebert & Issam Ibrahim 8 each. In the semi finals of the consolation bracket Eastview faced Burnsville and lost 56-47. It was a close game all the way. The Lightning were there to compete and they did. Scoring for Eastview were: Ben Neubert had 15 points, going nine for ten from the line; Jackson Bires had 13 points and was 7 for 8 from the line; and Jake Mayer pitched in 8 points. As a team Eastview was 21-25 from the line. Eastview finished the season 7-20. The boys represented Eastview well, played hard and got better as a team throughout the entire season. Go Lightning!

Freshman Earn Win Over Farmington

The 9A team worked hard for their victory over Farmington, winning 48-47. The biggest lead the in the game was nine by the Lightning midway through the first half. In the second half the Tigers went to a zone to slow down the game. Eastview had a stretch of cold shooting to let Farmington back in the game. Eastview made some great plays to seal the victory in the final moments on defense. Filling the stat sheet for the Lightning were: Jackson Bires with 7 rebounds, 3 deflections, 14 points, and shooting 4 for 5 from the field and 6 for 7 from the free throw line; Nick Manders had 4 rebounds, 4 deflections, 1 steal, 1 assist, and 13 points; Will Barry lead all rebounders with 7, Sam Brill had 5 rebounds and a huge baby hook shot late in the game; Ben Neubert had 4 rebounds, 2 steals, 2 assists and 6 points; Porter Awad had 4 steals.

9A Battle Apple Valley

The 9A team lost a hard fought battle with Apple Valley Friday night 56-49.  Down by 9 at half, the Lightning battled back to within 3 midway through the second half.  It stayed within one possession the rest of the game until Eastview had to foul towards the end of the game.  The Lightning dominated the boards 45-30, with Sam Brill pulling down 13 boards. Nick Manders had 8 rebounds, Jackson Bires had 7, and Jake Mayer, Ben Neubert and Will Barry had 5 apiece.  Scoring for the Lightning were: Jackson Bires 14, Nick Manders 11, and Ben Neubert 10.  Eastview was 10-13 from the line.
