Last Thursday, the 9A boys basketball team took the Eagles from Kennedy. The boys got off to a fast start with a 14-2 run, and from there never let up, shooting almost 60% from the field for the game. They finished with a decisive 60-25 win in a game where everyone saw double digit minutes.  Brady Miller led the scorers with 16 points and 2 rebounds, Jordan Johnston added 11 points and 3 rebounds, Devon Hannah had 10 points and 6 boards, and Tyler Worm contributed 9 points and 6 rebounds. It was an all-around team effort, and hopefully the boys will be able to take the momentum to the next few games against some very difficult conference opponents.

Last Thursday, the 9B boys basketball team squared off against the Kennedy Eagles. After Eastview came out to fast start – taking a 10 point lead into half – the Eagles showed resiliency and fought their way back at the end of the game. However, our boys battled to the end and held on to at 39-36 win. Jess burns led the charge with a double-double on 10 points and 11 rebounds. Isaiah Andrews added 8 points, and Andrew Yung tallied six, and Phil Melroe added 7 rebounds and Willica Ajack added another 6.

On Monday, the 9B boys basketball team ran into a difficult opponent in the Jefferson Jaguars. For the second game in a row the boys came out strong, but unlike against Kennedy the boys were not able to hold on down the stretch and lost 46-35. The game was a tale of two halves. The first half was dominated by strong defensive play from our lightning – causing 5 turnovers in the first 5 minutes – but the second half  Jefferson ratcheted up their intensity, and were able to go on a run that EVHS could not keep up with. Germod Artur and Andrew Yung led the scoring with 8 points apiece, and Phild Melroe was able to come down with 4 rebounds in a difficult loss.

The boys will next be facing the Wildcats from Eagan on Thursday, where they hope to get a little payback.
