EASTVIEW 6th MAN CLUB MEETING MINUTES
October 8, 2009
The meeting began around 6:05 p.m. with Steve Radermacher welcoming everyone in attendance; it was great to see a nice turn out and new faces.
By-Laws
Steve gave a brief review of the new by-laws and why they are important to the booster club. He opened the floor for a vote to adopt the by-laws which was unanimously approved. For reference, the by-laws are posted on the 6th Man Club page (direct download link: 6thManClub Bylaws 09-10.pdf )
Concessions
EVHS has handed over the concessions to the booster club to manage. Jim and Merilu Narum will purchase the food and manage the inventory. Volunteer recruitment to staff each of the 12 home games is underway. When Jodi Ulrich or Katy Jonas ask for your time to help out please say yes with excitement! That way, the task can be spread among many volunteers so everyone can still watch the games.
Financials/Fundraising
Jim Narum gave an overview for the financials as Mark Losee, Board Treasurer, was out of town. Details of where our revenue is generated and what the booster club pays for was reviewed; the overall budget to run the basketball program in addition to what the district funds is around $25,000. Our largest revenue sources are Summer Fast Break League, MYAS hosted tournaments, Freshman/Sophomore Free Throw-a-Thon and the Tip-Off Classic. A new fundraising source this year as many booster clubs have been challenged to do is implement a "program fee". This year the program fee is $50 and is payable to The 6th Man Club. Coordination around this with details will be provided at the next meeting. Matt Percival, the EVHS Athletic Director, held a booster meeting and said most program funds are the same dollar amount as when EVHS started over 10 years ago. The booster programs are becoming responsible to manage more and more of running the program including coach salaries, uniforms, equipment, transportation, etc. The program fee implemented this year is actually being used to plan for future needs. In past years, the 6th Man Club has taken out loans and this can be financially hard on the program so the purchases that are large need to be saved for years in advance. To help with this effort, Mike Oberfeld is taking a full inventory of uniforms so a replacement plan can be outlined with costs to fund it.

Tip-Off Classic
Gregg Kuhn is the leader for the Tip-Off Classic; our first fundraising event of the year. He mentioned that several key positions for running this event have been secured, but Gregg is looking for more volunteers especially in the area of Communication/PR for the event. A special Tip-Off Classic meeting is being held on Tuesday, October 13 in the commons at 7:00 p.m. If you want to help or learn about the event...just show up on Oct. 13. New this year is a Silent Auction and all players/parents are being asked to donate a basket. Team up with another family if you'd like. Details on this will be sent later. There will be raffle tickets given to players after tryouts for our big item which now is a Vikings jacket autographed by Adrian Peterson. Raffle tickets can be sold to anyone since you do not need to be present to win.
Half-time Entertainment
One of the missions is to get fans in the stands so a group to manage the half-time entertainment has been formed. Brett and Belinda McSparron, Lori Haugh and Julie King have been securing local groups and clubs to be at our home games. Other creative "super fan" ideas are being tossed around as well to make the games a fun event for all. Please send any suggestions you have for this to lhaugh@integra.net
