EASTVIEW 6th MAN CLUB

 MEETING MINUTES

March 16, 2009

Steve Radermacher kicked off the meeting at 7:05 PM and welcomed everyone that could

attend.

Agenda Items-

MYAS Tournament

Ted Myslinski communicated where we were at with the tournament details; the team

registration deadline was today so we'll be finding out the brackets and number of teams

soon.  The big piece to work on is filling our volunteer spots; quite a few are open yet so

Angie will coordinate getting that message out to all players and families.  We need

everyone's support! National Honor Society volunteers are also filling a few spots for their

community service.  Entry fees were voted on and finalized with $6 for Adults, $4 for

Students and 5-under FREE.  Friday night setup will begin at 6:00 PM.  The tournament

core group will also meet at 8:00 PM after the 6th Man Meeting to finalize concessions and

other details.

Banquet

Mike Johnson gave an update for the banquet being held on Sunday, April 5.  Invitations

were sent out and a reply was due by 3/20 to Kris Wesser.  Paula Losee mentioned we

need to determine if we plan to use the same facility for next year.  To secure our spot a

$100 deposit is due the Tuesday after the banquet.  A date also needs to be secured at that

time.  Mark Losee reminded Mike of the total budget allocations for the banquet to be sure

the expenses are managed accordingly.

Financials-Fundraising

Mark Losee did a great job giving us a brief overview of our current and future financial

status and some hard decisions that were made to get us through until we can see revenue

from the tournament.  There are three invoices that will be deferred until our account has the

funds to cover them.  The delayed payments include the invoice for warm up uniforms to

the end of summer, the EVHS random acts of kindness donation from the tip off event and

the EVHS girls program allocation from the tip off to April.  Mark Losee has

communicated to the uniform vendor and Mark Gerber will communicate the payment time

frame to Paul Goetz.  After some up front tournament costs are paid we will have

approximately $91 in our account at the end of March.  We also learned that EVHS may be

invoicing the 6th Man Club for overages in transportation allocation.  Matt Percival will be

communicating that to Coach Gerber.  Mark Losee also commented that we need to leave

$1,500 in the account for the next group to have going into the MYAS tournament.  Losing

gyms for the Fastbreak League to lower revenue for this summer is a one-time event that

will not occur again for a while.  Due to our financial situation more fundraising ideas were

thrown out to the group.  Gregg Kuhn has been looking into hosting a Fall MYAS

tournament, but it does not appear to be promising with the MYAS commitments already.

Everyone was on board with trying to secure a better date for next year's spring MYAS

tournament.  Ideally, we would like a date after Spring Break and Easter around mid April.

Securing the weekend with MYAS and gyms at EVHS will need to be managed.  Adding a

silent auction to the Tip-off-Classic was suggested since this would not create another event

to host, but allow for additional revenue.  Fast Break summer concessions could also

produce a bit more revenue with more items offered.  Gregg is communicating with EVAA

to see if hosting a south of the river Fall Scrimmage for the girls/boys traveling basketball

associations to kick off their season is of interest.  EVAA participated in this event for the

first time at St. Louis Park and it was well received.  There were four teams per bracket and

the cost was $100 per team.  Scores were not kept just running clock time and referees so

volunteer hours and costs would be minimal.  Another topic discussed was adding a cost

for booster club memberships or selling other items like fertilizer, etc.  These ideas were not

well received.

Coach Gerber's Comments

Coach Gerber mentioned there will be end of year evaluations for players and goals made

for this next summer/season.  He would also like to see the 6th Man Club stay as a

volunteer organization where no member fees are required.  Volunteering is also something

the EVHS coaches want to promote with their players doing by donating their time for

community service events.  This helps build on the program's philosophy.  The 9th and

10th grade teams had their banquets.  The main focus for this summer is for individual

player skill development and strength development.  Coach Gerber loves this time of year -

March Madness and is anxious for the next match up.

The meeting was adjourned at approximately 8:00 PM.

The April meeting will be determined and an e-mail notification sent later.
