EASTVIEW 6TH MAN CLUB MEETING MINUTES

March 1, 2010

Jim Narum welcomed everyone to our March booster club and started the meeting at 7:05 pm.

Community Service Update

Kathy Jonas gave the final community service update.  $160 cash was donated and 150 points of food was donated in partnership with Lakeville North.  A nice contribution that was made to the Dakota County Food Shelf.

Financial Update

Tom Wessel reviewed the current numbers.  He noted that there were a couple of things in particular that were helpful in strengthening our financial position. The Sophomore Free Throw-a-Thon and concessions have been very successful this year.

Tom also communicated several items from the last board meeting:

  • The Board approved a change to the fiscal year for the Club.  The 6th Man Club fiscal year will now be May 1 – April 30th every year.
  • The Board also approved an additional scholarship of $500.
  • Finally, The Board approved sponsorship of Vinard Birch for his state all-star selection. The sponsorship will be approximately $350.00.

Senior Night

Greg Kuhn gave an update on all pre-game activities for Senior Night vs. Rosemount.

The Club worked through the pre-game schedule of events and determined the order of activities.  The National Anthem will be performed by Mike Myslinski.  The Eastview LDT will be performing at half time.  Penny Moorse also noted that Cane’s had requested another sponsorship night.  The daily announcement has been changed to reflect their sponsorship.  An announcement will also be made at the game.

The senior gifts have also been purchased and will be presented to the seniors at the game.

End of Season Banquet

Carolyn Oberfeld reported much of the planning for the party has already been completed by several people.  Kris Wesser has agreed to do the invitations once again.  Coach Gerber will provide Carolyn with an invitation list of people he wants to include.  Once she has that Carolyn will provide those names to Kris.  Kris will have invitations mailed out.  There was a question about changing time of banquet from 5:00 pm to 5:30 pm as The Club is sponsoring the MYAS tournament.  Since the meeting, the banquet time as been changed to 5:30 pm and confirmed with Diane at Royal Cliff.

Paula Losee gave an update on all the items she has been working on.  She will be finalizing the menu with Royal Cliff.  She will also be picking up the gift for seniors and completing work on that.

Amy Shanks and Carolyn will be in charge of decorations.

Russ and Angie Otto will be working on the video.

Finally, a preliminary discussion was started about considering other venues for the year-end banquet including EVHS.  The intention would still be to put down a deposit at Royal Cliff for next year’s banquet but to consider other options, including the school commons.

MYAS Tournament Update

Jay Schlosser gave an update on the tournament.  Everything is set up and on track.  From this point forward it will just be the scheduling of volunteers.  It was noted that Juniors may have a schedule conflict as there is an ACT test scheduled for Saturday.  Jay will work around this and the year-end banquet.

Jay also mentioned that the EVAA group has 30 – 40 practice jerseys which are available for the EVHS program if they so choose.

Coach's Update

Coach Gerber discussed the playoff schedule and beyond.  He may be looking for some additional sponsorship from the 6th Man Club at some point.

The playoff schedule right now is as follows:

First Round: Wednesday, March 10th – location to be determined by seeding meeting.

Next Playoff Games:  March 13th and March 19th at St. Olaf

Coach also noted that BJ Viau has been hired by the Hungtinton Disease Foundation.  He has asked for the sponsorship of a basket at their Hoop-A-Thon which will be at Eastivew on Sunday April 18th.  The sponsorship would mean that the 6th Man Club would be responsible for having people at the basket to assist participants.  A schedule will be made up for volunteers.

Meeting was adjourned at 7:50pm.
