$60,000 Raised During 2010 Twin Cities Hoop-A-Thon

The 2010 Twin Cities Hoop-A-Thon was a success with around $60,000 raised in the one-day event. The Hoop-A-Thon was started by 2005 Eastview Alum and former Varsity basketball player B.J. Viau.  It is an annual fundraiser to help find a cure for Huntington's Disease in support of the Viau family.

During the event participants shoot free throws for 5 consecutive minutes trying to sink as many as they can.  About 600 people attended the event with 248 shooters making 12,211 baskets.  Leading the fundraising was Joel Giefer with $2,000 raised and 36 sponsors!  Well done, Joel.

Each age group had a competition for most made baskets.  Those winners won a free camp tuition for the 2010 Eastview summer camp for making the most baskets.  The age-group winners are as follows:

1st-3rd Grade: Isiah Misukanis, 32

4th-6th Grade: Ben Neubert, 105

7th-8th Grade: Kyle Rush, 65

Thanks to the Eastview Community for their great participation in this year's event.

Food Shelf Fundraising Event

The Sixth Man Club sponsored a food drive at this year's home game vs. Lakeville North. Together the two teams donated over 150 lbs of food and $160 in cash donation to support the local Dakota County food shelf.  Thank you for your continued support of our community!

Eastview players, coaches, and parents lend a hand

All team members (Freshmen thru Varsity) including players, coaches, and parents travelled to Eagan Dec. 30, 2009 to help out at Feed My Starving Children. It was great fun helping this wonderful organization. For the session, the group created enough meals to feed 58 children in third-world countries one meal a day for an entire year.  See a quick slide show from the event here. Community Service .
