9TH GRADE BASKETBALL INFO

When will try outs occur?

Try outs will take place in the Main gym at EVHS on November 13th, 14th and 15th. Time is still TBD. At the end of the second day of try outs, the first cut will be communicated.  The final cuts will be made on the 3rd day of try outs.  Each student/athlete will be notified if he made the team or did not make the team.  9A and 9B designations will be made the second week to enable the coaching staff a chance to further evaluate and place each player on the team where we feel he will have the most success.

Will there be a preseason meeting for potential players?

There will be a preseason meeting for potential 9th grade players prior to try outs which will explain the try out format along with other details of the first week.  This meeting will be offered before school at 7:05 AM or after school at 2:35 PM in an EV classroom TBD. The date of this meeting will be communicated through school announcements, twitter and signage throughout school. Coach Currie and Coach Flemmons are the contact teacher/coach for 9th grade meeting.

When is registration and how do I register?

All student/athletes at Eastview are required to register ONLINE.  Registration for Winter Sports is now open.

There may be one or two forms that a student/athlete needs to sign (along with a parent) that would need to be physically turned in at the Activities Office before a player will be cleared to try out.  This includes the PHYSICAL EXAM form (required every 3 years) that must be signed by the doctor who performed the exam.

If a student qualifies for FREE AND REDUCED LUNCH, the registration fee is waived but you must fill out paper work.  The player must still register on-line, but the fee will show up as “zero”.  The biggest confusion with free/reduced lunch comes after you hit the “Submit” button.  You are not done with registration until you go to the “Checkout” (located at the top of the page) and complete that process.

The EVHS Main Office has a computer available for your use if you do not have access to one.  The Main Office hours are 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM.

NOTE:  Players will not be allowed to try out without being properly registered and cleared to play.

Is there a specific form that I need to use for my physical exam?

YES.  The MSHSL has a specific form that your doctor must complete for participation in high school sports.  Some doctor offices have this form on file, but it is strongly advised that you take the proper paperwork with you to your physical exam.  If you do not have the correct form completed and signed by your doctor, you will not be cleared to try out.

You can find the form on the MSHSL web site at: www.mshsl.org.

Will there be a Fall Super Group that focuses on conditioning, explosiveness and strength?

YES.  There will be a Basketball Super Group for athletes who are not involved in a fall sport.  Super Group will be on all Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays that we have school until the season begins.  Players are to meet at 2:45 pm outside the weight room in workout clothes.  The workout will be completed by 4:00 pm.  Sign up is $50 and can be done on MyPayments plus.  This is only for athletes not in a fall sport.

Will there be Open Gyms this Fall?

Open gyms take place on Wednesday and Sunday evenings. The full open gym schedule can be found on  www.eastview-hoops.org

CONCESSIONS SCHEDULE

Selling concessions at home games is one of our main fundraisers.  In order for this to be successful, everybody's support by working their assigned shifts is critical.  Each family is scheduled for 2-3 shifts this season.  Only one parent is needed for your family's shift.  There are 2 shifts per game:

  • Opening shift (5:00pm - 7:00pm)
  • Closing shift (6:45pm - 9:00pm)

If you have a conflict, you can switch shifts with another family, but it is up to you to coordinate that switch.

The concessions schedule for the season is posted below.  Thank you for your support of Eastview Boys Basketball!
