Fast start propels Lightning to win

Clearly, the Lightning had learned from their one point defeat last week to Apple Valley, in which they led for 29 of the 32 minutes. In last night's win versus Rosemount, Eastview led for the entire game.

Propelled by an 11-0 start, Eastview cruised to a 45-37 over the Irish. The Lightning led by double-digits for much of the game before a late spurt helped Rosemount close the gap.

Jordan Johnston led a balanced scoring effort that saw 4 guys in double figures. Johnston finished with 13, Brady Miller and Tyler Worm added 11 and Sean Thissen chipped in 10.

Eastview moved to 5-5 on the season and are next in action Friday at Prior Lake.

Eastview Falls Short, Loses 47-46 to Valley

By Coach Olsen 01/06/2015, 11:15am CST

Eastview controls game, lets late lead slip

For 29 minutes, Eastview controlled the game and led the visiting Eagles, but it was the Lightning's inability to finish the game in the last three minutes that cost them the victory versus their cross-town rivals.

Up six points with three minutes to play, starting center Sean Thissen fouled out. With the paint now open without the presence of Thissen, Apple Valley went to work down low and converted inside. A late 10-0 spurt helped them gain control and put the Eagles up 4 with 10 seconds to play.

Eastview managed to get the ball up the court and find an open Max Bolger in the corner, he drilled the three pointer as time expired, but ultimately, the Lightning fell one point short.

Brady Miller and Bolger led all scorers with 18 each. The Lightning next battle rival Rosemount on Jan. 5.
